Therapy for College Students
Heading off to college can feel both exciting and overwhelming. You’re stepping into a new chapter and the shifts in identity that come with this transition can be difficult to process. Therapy provides a grounding space to discuss the emotions, uncertainty, and stress that often come with this change.
Moving to a new city, leaving home, or keeping up with academic pressure is a lot to carry. Therapy can help with homesickness, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and the stress of figuring out who you are in a whole new environment.
❋ Starting College or Grad SchoolWhether you’re living at home during school or off on your own for the first time, shifts in family dynamics are inevitable. Therapy can help you learn how to set and maintain boundaries so that you can protect your peace while still staying connected to the people who matter.
❋ Shifts in Family Dynamics and Boundaries❋ Breakups, New Relationships, or Redefining YourselfMaybe you’re heartbroken, falling in love, or realizing who you are outside of a relationship now that you’re away at college. Therapy gives you space to process, heal, and move forward with clarity.
Keep the therapy process seamless in and out of school by connecting with a therapist licensed in both your home and school states. I see clients in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, New York, South Carolina, and Florida.

Our Approach
There are a variety of therapeutic techniques we use to support college students:
-
CBT offers tools to challenge negative beliefs and build healthier thinking, supporting lasting emotional and cognitive change.
-
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidence-based approach used to help individuals gradually face anxiety-provoking situations without engaging in safety behaviors.
By reducing avoidance and building tolerance for discomfort, ERP helps break the cycle that maintains OCD and/or stuck thoughts.
-
DBT provides practical skills for managing emotions and improving your relationships with others. It can help you deal with intense feelings, like anxiety around eating, and teach you how to communicate better with those around you.
-
ACT focuses on accepting your thoughts and feelings without letting them control your actions. It encourages you to act in ways that are in line with your values.
-
EMDR Therapy is used to process and reduce the impact of past traumas that may be impacting your present life.
